A great run tonight with the boys Dan Plant and Darren Gough.
We all managed to get out of work around 5 past 5, and headed over to the gym to get changed. After firing up our GPS technology we set about on the run we made last week - essentially a 10 miler going round Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace.
For the first time, I tried a Lucozade Body Fuel bar - which was surprisingly tasty for an "energy snack". After passing B Palace, both Dan and I mooted the possibility of a "water stop", so we headed into St James Park and found a suitable stop.
At this point we were 6 miles in, and all feeling quite good. We decided to add a mile or two to the run, and Dan P took us round an exciting tour of Parliament.
We stopped at the traffic lights near Trafalgar Square - and noticed something I'd like to term as "cool". Instead of a red man at the crossing, there was a red man on a horse, no doubt highlighting the necessary runner's caution of horse mess on the paths!
The run back to the gym was particularly straight, and included going past a bunch of hardcore fitness fanatics going through their paces near Serpentine lake. Note I'm not (yet) classing myself as a fitness fanatic, as I still don't class myself as being "fit" - hopefully that'll naturally occur in the next two months of training.
We had our routine sprint down Holland Park Avenue, and I caught up with the boys outside W12 shopping centre for the routine high-five and general warm-down.
